EDWARD BROWN
Left
26/03/19.
Ed joined Scouts a boy and
left Scouts a man. At the age of 10 at his first camp he tripped
over a rock and cut his knee resulting in a trip to hospital.
Whilst there he almost passed out on a nurse and back at camp
developed a John Cleese walk with his “gammy” leg. But after camp
we saw the all-new Ed – capable of lifting tree trunks and
slinging around hay bales. When Ed collided with a stone wall in a
game it was the wall that went home crying! Ed started Scouts in
the Panther patrol and left as Panthers Patrol Leader. Extremely
hard working and committed, Ed excelled at summer camp, made a
huge success of running his patrol and bagged the Lidster Trophy
at Summer Camp and The Warren Trophy for 2018.

ALEX PHIPPS
Left
26/03/19. Alex joined Scouts in
April 2014 and quickly introduced us to his quirky sense of humour
and love of all things in the school library and the Apple
operating system! One of Alex’s first activities was a summer
evening of tobogganing and sledging which he described as “the
best part of my weekend”. However, after his first summer camp in
2016, Alex was more forthright in his opinion of the farm field we
stayed in, saying “I did not like all the THISTLES”! It was at
summer camp we discovered Alex’s aversion to getting wet and on a
number of different Mega SUP activities it was Alex who clung on
to the board with a vice like grip. Of course this led to the
challenge of getting Alex in the water. A loyal Scout to the end,
Alex remained a Panther throughout his time with the Troop.

FED DARIOL
Left
26/03/19. Fed joined Scouts in
April 2014 and spent time in both the Panther and Eagle patrols.
Within weeks of joining he took his first trip away with the Troop
at a Bivouacing Camp. Here he enjoyed sleeping out with his mates
but wasn’t so keen on the surprise after the “spirits were
summonsed” after dark in a nearby field! The Italian in Fed led to
his love of good food and his equal dislike of some of the
delights served up at camps and activities. On a canoeing trip
when asked what the worst meal was Fed wrote, “everything apart
from the hot chocolate”. He was also very honest about the
canoeing trip, advising others, “don't go you only get drenched”!
Fed’s Italian roots helped teach the rest of the Troop how to
correctly pronounce, “parmigiano”, although we suspect the use of
Italian was used as a secret method of talking about the leaders
without them knowing what he was saying. Fed was a loyal Scout and
joined in with most of the activities on offer during his time
with the Troop.

HENRY TAYLOR
Left
20/03/18.
Henry
joined in April 2014. Despite not knowing anyone he
helped out on the Scouts stall at the Day of Dance just a few days
later. He quickly made long lasting friendships
through Scouts. He joined the Swifts and set off for
his first Summer Camp that July.
A few months after that first camp a young Henry decided to apply
for a job as a Patrol Leader. He was successful and
took over as the Panthers PL for the next three years, winning
Summer Camp in 2017. At Festive Friday Henry was a
member of the entertainment team three times, twice as the main
host. Always keen to join in with Troop activities
Henry even celebrated his birthday at Summer Camp - and in 2016
met the infamous "Peggy Mitchell"! He left having
achieved his Chief Scouts Gold Award.
Read Henry's memories of his time
in Scouts here.

GABE WINGROVE
Left
20/03/18. Gabe started his time
with the Troop as a member of the Kestrel patrol in November 14.
At his first of three summer camps in 2015 Gabe was nicknamed "Munckin"
by the caving instructor. We never let him forget
that. Always up for a laugh, he appeared at
Festive Friday as an elf, a star and a girl - and as himself of
course. Gabe was one of the key team members
completing a sponsored walk raising over £600 for the Friends of
the Community of Adderbury Library in 2018. Towards
the end of 2016 Gabe successfully applied to be a Patrol Leader
with the Troop and moved to Eagle patrol to take charge there.
He left the Troop having completed his Chief Scouts Gold Award

TOM HAYNES
Left
20/03/18.
Tom was so keen to join
Scouts, at the age of 10 he turned up to help at the Scouts
Christmas Float in December 2013 to make sure he secured his place
in the Troop immediately after Christmas. He spent
most of his time with us as a Kestrel but did move to the Swifts
for a year in the middle of his time, returning to the Kestrel's
to take over as Patrol Leader when his older brother left the
Troop. Sporty Tom was always keen to be on the winning
team and took part in all our activities enthusiastically.
He attended four summer camps, the first being in 2014 and was
Kestrels PL for his final two camps. Tom was very
proud to win the Lidster Trophy at Summer Camp 2016. A
regular at all Troop activities, and always careful to balance his
sport and Scout commitments, Tom proudly left the Troop with his
Chief Scouts Gold Award. (13/05/18) |

ARCHIE
McCUSKER
Left 20/03/18. Archie
joined Scouts in April 2014,
initially as a member of the Kestrel
Patrol. He made an early start on his Chief Scouts
Gold Award, volunteering as a helper at our primary school after
school club to gain a test pass just a year later.
Archie attended four Summer Camps, the first
being just three months after joining the Troop
in 2014. He had many proud moments in the Troop
included carrying in the haggis behind
the piper at the Burns Night
supper his father had organised and, of course,
achieving his Chief Scouts Gold Award. Despite heavy
school commitments, Archie successfully applied for a job as a
Patrol Leader and moved from the Kestrels to lead the Swift Patrol
from 2017 until he left the Troop. (13/05/18) |
|
LUCA
LENIHAN-ORWA
Luca
joined the Troop in July 2013 as a member of
the Swift patrol. He attended four Summer Camps and on
these and other trips always proved what a hard worker he was,
often being the one finishing the washing up or other tasks (we
won't mention the marigolds though!).
However it was an event at Luca's first Summer Camp that often led
to a ribbing: during a minibus trip to an activity he managed to
demonstrate to everyone in the vehicle what he had eaten for
breakfast! Always popular, Luca wasn't a PL but easily
stepped into this role when his PL was away, or taken ill at camp.
Outside Scouts Luca was one of the most promising footballers the
Troop has ever seen, but impressively he managed to balance his
commitments to Scouts, his team training and school.
He left the Troop with a well deserved Chief Scouts Gold Award to
his name.

HARRY
CRITCHFIELD
Left
20/03/18. Harry joined the Troop in
July 13 and spent his Scouting life in the Eagles. He
attended his first Summer Camp in 2014 and ahead of this his dad
informed the leaders Harry was a vegetarian, but liked fish -
preferably battered! Harry was one of the first in his age
group to complete the Chief Scouts Gold Award and completed
challenges such as volunteering at Adderbury Lakes and completing
a sponsored walk which raised over £600 for the Friends of the
Community of Adderbury Library. Harry was a key member
of the team organising this latter event. He was
also a keen musician and skilled canoeist.

CHARLIE COX
Left
20/03/18. Charlie joined Scouts in
October 2013 as a member of the Eagle patrol. He took
part in a number of activities during his time with the Troop
including, scuba diving, paintballing, wet 'n; wild camp, the
annual big night wide game and the frostie's challenge camps.
Charlie was also a key member of the entertainment team at Festive
Friday. He was particularly adept with his ability to
memorise a script and demonstrated great stage presence.
He recreated comedy routines from some of the greats such as
Morecombe and Wise and Monty Pyhton.
Charlie will also be remembered
at the person who provided a bit of fun at the start of meetings
with the latest goings on from school life. (13/05/18) |

RYAN MOLLER
Left
28/03/17.
Ryan made the most of all the
camps and activities on offer during his four years with the
Troop. He clocked up an impressive 34 nights away
including four summer camps. Ryan spent his time with
the Troop in the Swift patrol. As a younger Scout at
Summer Camp 2013 Ryan became master of creating ham and cheese
crepes. Two years later Ryan became Swifts
PL and demonstrated a great ability to run a happy team with
everyone looked after. Ryan loved our outdoor
activities and was in his element getting wet on water activities,
cooking over a wood fire, climbing a high ropes course or hiking
up a mountain. Ryan worked hard to complete and
achieve his Chief Scouts Gold Award, which he received just before
he left the Troop in March 2017. (21/09/17) |

OLLIE
CLITHEROE
Left
28/03/17. When Olly joined the
Troop in January 2013 he became a Kestrel. In 2015 he
moved to the Panthers to become Assistant Patrol Leader.
But by 2016 he had moved again and taken over as the Eagles Patrol
Leader. We have no idea what the Swifts did to upset
him, but they were the only patrol only didn't try!
Olly was infamous for his laugh - the Olly giggle - and his fear
of the ghost in the building at the Overnighter in 2014.
(There was no ghost but it did stop Olly running round the
dormitories in his onesie!)

RHYS HANDLEY
Left
28/03/17. Rhys joined us in January
2013 and became a Kestrel, and that's where he stayed throughout
his time with the Troop. During flagbreak discussions
the leaders always enjoyed their chats with Rhys to find out the
latest Scout "news" - he always knew what was happening.
In April 2015 Rhys stepped up to
our election challenge and stood for the labour party in our mock
elections. Rhys always enjoyed the Troop's days out
and he was a regular at our Mystery Trips. After
completing a full four years with the Troop Rhys left in March
2017. (21/09/17) |

HARVEY RYE
Left
26/04/16. Harvey joined the Troop
at the end of June 2011 - too late to attend Summer Camp that year
- but when another Scout broke his leg Harvey jumped in and
snapped up the place. Cheeky Harvey always threw
himself into everything he did with us, even throwing himself into
women's clothing on several occasions in the name of Festive
Friday entertainment! (Who will ever forget the
brilliant dating sketch.) It took until
Summer Camp 2014 for Harvey to be crowned Wally Of The Week at
Summer Camp in recognition of the fun he provided everyone.
A keen participant in the Troop's many activities, Harvey took the
role of Patrol Leader in the Eagle patrol and successfully
completed all the challenges of the Chief Scouts Gold Award.
Harvey threw himself into things right up until the end and didn't
let the rain at the County Awards Days stop him enjoying himself -
the poor lad was soaked! (16/08/16) |

BEN HAYNES
Left
29/03/16. Ben started his Scouting
life in the Panthers in September 2011 and remained there until he
moved to take on the job of Patrol Leader in the Kestrels in 2015.
The role of PL meant a big decision for Ben as he had to choose
between football training or being a PL as they both happened on
the same night. Ben knew how beneficial the PL role
would be for him and made his decision. It's a role he
excelled in as in 2015 Ben walked home with the Lidster Trophy for
camp week and the Warren Trophy for the rest of the year having
gelled and managed a group of young people who were a committed
team. Despite not being one of our louder Scouts Ben
admirably took on the role of party leader at our 2015 elections
and recreated the famous Morecombe and Wise breakfast sketch at
Festive Friday 2015. Ben was a hardworking and
conscientious Scout well deserving of the Chief Scouts Gold Award
he achieved. (16/08/16) |

ALFIE BULLUS
Left
24/03/15. We're going to be careful
what we say here as Alfie (or Tory boy as we sometimes called him)
is likely to be a future Prime Minister. He even
played the Prime Minister in a Festive Friday sketch.
That said Alfie told us his views were rather liberal so his
chances of getting anywhere near parliament are minimal.
Alfie joined the Troop in May 2011 as part of the "Danny and Alfie"
duo - never to be separated - until they separated.
Alfie was in the Eagle patrol to start with. He went to
considerable lengths to miss his first couple of Summer Camps,
including breaking a limb. After Summer Camp in 2013
Alfie decided the next year he wanted to be in charge and
successfully applied for a PLs job, taking over the Swift patrol.
Alfie achieved the Chief Scouts Gold Award .... he also achieved
the dubious honour of being the only Scout to gett stuck half way
along the zip wire at Summer Camp 2014! Oh Alfie. (09/05/15) |

IWAN
TAYLOR-EVANS
Left
24/03/15. Iwan joined Scouts in
November 2010 and started his Scouting life in the Wolves.
He transferred to the Panthers as their APL in 2013 and took over
as their PL in 2014. In his application to be a PL
Iwan even quoted some of the items he expected to be listed in
this profile including the infamous moment he had to be rescued
from a river in Snowdonia by "Trainer Man" - the water was less
than 30 centimetres deep! Ah yes Iwan provided many
comic moments. Who would have though the brake lever
on a toboggan could have kept him laughing for twenty minutes.
And the comedy continued through the many sketches he was part of
for Festive Friday - one of the best being the dating sketch in
2012. Iwan left the Troop having proudly achieved his
Chief Scouts Gold Award. (09/05/15) |

BRYN
TAYLOR-EVANS
Left
24/03/15. It was November 2010 when
a young Cub called Bryn joined the Troop as a member of the Eagle
patrol. Just over two years later when the Eagle PL
left Bryn beat the others in his patrol to grab the top job and
became the first PL from his year group. The early
experience certainly paid off for Bryn as he led the Eagle patrol
to win the Warren trophy in both 2013 and 2014 and won the Lidster
trophy at Summer Camp 2014, having attended all four Summer Camps.
A great organiser of his patrol, Bryn was also great on stage,
participating in Festive Friday sketches and in 2013 and 2014
taking on the hosting role. His rapport with the
audience led to some hilarious spontaneous moments with the ladies
- particularly Mrs Bishop! BTW did we mention Jody at
Summer Camp 2014? Bryn left the Troop with a Chief
Scouts Gold Award to his name. (09/05/15) |

TOM RICE
Left
24/03/15. Tom joined the
Troop in July 2011 having previously been a Cub and Beaver in
Bloxham. He started life in the Wolves patrol and
moved to the Swifts when the patrols were reorganised.
His first Summer Camp was in Nottingham in 2012 where he suffered
with a bad sickness bug. It seemed to come on
following meals ... when the washing-up needed completing!
Soon after this little Tom shot up to became big Tom with his hair
developing a life in its own right (we did wonder if Tom's hair
needed its own profile on the Hall Of Fame). Tom left
the Troop along with others in his year group at the end of March
2015. (09/05/15) |
|
JOSH POCOCK
Left
24/03/15. It was October 2011 when
Josh joined his friends as a member of 1st Adderbury.
Josh was a member of the Eagle patrol throughout his time with us.
His very high standards for sanitary arrangements meant it was
2014 before Josh made it to Summer Camp - or to put it another way
he didn't like the lack of flushing toilets! Josh
attended lost of other events with the Troop including the big
Night Wide Game, Festive Friday and French Connection.
he left alongside his fellow year 10 Scouts in March 2015. (09/05/15) |
|
DANNY O'TOOLE
Left
24/03/15. Danny joined the Troop in May
2011. He became a member of the Eagle patrol where he
stayed throughout his time with us. During his early
time in Scouts Danny was part of the duo that were "Danny and
Alfie". As he progressed to a solo career Danny
demonstrated his impressive performance skills, being a core
member of the team at three Festive Fridays.
Here he took on comedic roles as one of the Two Ronnies, Ernie (he
of fastest milk float fame), A Wurzle and Nick Clegg (remember
him?!). It was widely recognised that Danny had an IQ
higher than the rest of the Troop added together and he was often
relied upon for his map reading skills. However we
believe sometimes the ability to follow a map was more down to the
software on his phone than the map in his hand. Danny
attended three Summer Camps and worked hard to achieve his Chief Scouts Gold Award. (08/05/15) |

BEN BROWN
Left
24/03/15. Ben became a Scout in January
2011 and joined the Kestrel patrol where he stayed throughout his
time with the Troop. Ben's first Summer Camp came six
months later in Somerset where Ben is proudly pictured on the last
day wearing his scarf the wrong way round! Ben
attended every Summer Camp during his time with the Troop and it
was during these weeks away we discovered three of his traits:
firstly an ability to fall over every tent peg in the field;
secondly his ability to lift up a canoe filled with water on his
own; thirdly that he finds a toboggan brake highly amusing ... you
had to be there! Oh did we mention Ben being stuck in
the sumo suit at camp 2015 and needing the help of the female
instructor... Ben became Kestrel Patrol Leader in October 2013 and
completed his Chief Scouts Gold Award. (07/05/15) |
|
WILL RYE
Left
25/03/14. Will joined the Troop in
September 2009 becoming a member of the Panther patrol, where he
eventually became the Patrol Leader. Will attended all
four summer camps during his time with us. He was a
regular member of the team providing the entertainment at Festive
Friday: in his "big hair" stage he did the Don't Stop Me Now
mime in 2011 and is the "shorter hair" phase was the main host
in 2012. Will achieved the Chief Scouts Award in March
2014 having completed community work at Adderbury Lakes and loads
of adventurous activities with the Troop including a trip up
Snowdon, canoeing, knee boarding and a zip wire course. (13/10/14) |
|
HARRY
PHILLIPS
Left
25/03/14. Harry became an Adderbury Scout
in May 2010 and joined the Panther patrol. He attended
his first Summer Camp in 2011. By 2013 he had
successfully applied for a job as Patrol Leader and found himself
in charge of the Swift patrol. Harry participated in a
number of adventurous activities with the Troop, including crate
stacking, archery, quad biking and a trip up Snowdon.
These, together with his community work at Adderbury Library
counted towards his Chief Scouts Award pass. Harry
will also be remembered for the various ways he wound everyone up
at the 2013 Overnighter, not least the ghost that haunted the
building we were staying in! (13/10/14) |
|
TOBY PEISSEL
Left
25/03/14. Toby became a Scout at 1st
Adderbury in December 2009. He was a Swift throughout
his time with the Troop. His first Summer Camp was in
2010 when he "saw a ghost". Much commotion followed as
Toby made the leaders aware of the situation. Sadly
they didn't believe Toby as "we don't have ghosts at Summer Camp"!
What did Toby see and hear in that field in Somerset?
We may never know. (13/10/14) |
|
GEORGE DING
Left
26/03/13. George became an Adderbury
Scout in May 2008. Three months later he found himself
at his first Summer Camp in Snowdonia (where this picture was
taken). The field contained a small hole in the wall
for sheep to get from one field to another. As George
was the only person who managed to get through easily it is now
known as "George's hole" whenever we visit the site. For
much of George's time with the Troop he was a Panther but moved to
the Eagles to become APL and then PL - a role he did extremely
well. George always threw himself into every Scout activity
and would have attended every summer camp during his years with
the Troop had he not broken his leg playing rugby just days before
Summer Camp 2011. George was the only member of his
year group to achieve the highly valued Chief Scouts Award. (28/03/13) |
|
BEN STOKER
Left
15/05/12. Ben joined the Troop in June
2007 - Scouting's centenary year. He signed up for
summer camp and two months later threw himself into all the
activities in Nottingham. When we say "threw himself"
we mean that quite literally. Whilst biking around
Sherwood Forrest Ben ran into another Scout and then decided to
head down the next bit of road without his bike resulting in a
split lip, hospital trip and stitches! He did stay at
camp for the rest of the week though. When Ben joined
he was a member of the Merlin patrol. The Merlins were
renamed as The Eagles a couple of years later but Ben remained in
this patrol throughout his time with the Troop, eventually
becoming the Patrol Leader. Ben achieved his Chief
Scouts Gold Award and is now an Explorer Scout.

TOM BISHOP
Left
27/09/11. Tom joined 1st Adderbury in October 2007
as a member of the Panther patrol, eventually becoming APL and
then PL. He received his PLs badge for doing the job well.
During our 2010 elections
Tom was the official candidate for the Liberal Democrats!
Tom didn't like smiling on camera so we had to force him otherwise
we got text messages from his mum! Tom, or Butterz to
his mates, was infamous for having a tiny ginger girlfriend
(allegedly, according to his friends). Of more acclaim
was his almost straight run of wins in the points competition
during his final few months with us. He also can be
proud of his Chief Scouts Award, received through hard work,
determination and loyalty to the Troop. (29/09/11) |
|
ASHLEY WARD
Left
27/09/11. In September 2007 Ashley took his place
in the Troop as a member of the Kestrel patrol. When
the new Wolves patrol was created the following year he moved
across and became APL and eventually PL. Ashley missed
his first summer camp as it clashed with a Boys Brigade camp; by
the next summer Ashley decided it was Scouts or nothing!
During his different fashion phases Ashley moved through looking
like Alan Carr to Gok Wan and back again. Amongst his
favourite Scouting activities was the Older Scouts' trip to France
to meet the locals in Lille. As well as providing many
amusing moments (including being the Vicar at Festive Friday 2010)
Ashley succeeded in passing his Chief Scouts Award. (29/09/11) |
|
SAM
GREATBATCH
Left
27/09/11. Sam joined the Troop in August 2006, just
in time to be part of the Scouting centenary celebrations the
following year. He started in the Tiger patrol, but by
2008 had moved to the Eagles. When it was decided to
create a new patrol late in 2009 Sam successfully applied for the
job and brought back to life the Swifts (a patrol that had existed
some years earlier). Sam attended all five summer
camps during his time with the Troop and managed to achieve his
five year participation badge. Sam had a "cream"
problem at camp - getting it everywhere during the desert
preparations and saying it with a rolling "r" for the sake of the
video out takes. We are sure he will giggle
remembering that! (29/09/11) |
|
BRANDON COLLETT
Left
27/09/11. Brandon was one of the youngest Scouts at
Summer Camp 2006, having joined in May of that year.
He managed to provide one of the most memorable moments,
completing a 180 degree inversion on a water inflatable.
Everyone else fell but Brandon stayed in place! He
started his Scouting life in the Merlin patrol, transferring to
the Eagles a couple of years later. As a younger Scout
Brandon was of normal height, but by the time he left he was a
giant. Brandon joined, and left Scouts with blond
hair. In between it went through various different
alternatives including black and dark blue. Brandon
easily managed to achieve his five year participation badge with
the Troop. (29/09/11) |

LIAM SAVINGS
Left
14/09/10. Liam joined 1st Adderbury in September
2006. He got to enjoy all the Scouting centenary
celebrations of 2007 including the 4.30am start to watch the
sunrise at Summer Camp! To start with Liam was a
Tiger, but when the Panther patrol was formed after Summer Camp
2007 he moved to join them. In 2008 Liam moved into
the Eagle patrol and took over as PL in September 2009.
Liam was a bit of a giggler and provided many moments of hilarity,
including at the 2008 Overnighter when he managed to stand on the
end of a pivoted plank of wood which flipped up and whacked him in
the face - cartoon style! (16/09/10) |
|
ROBBIE DWYER
Left
14/09/10. Robbie joined the Troop in December 2005
in the Kestrel patrol. As a younger Scout he attended
the soaking wet Banbury District Centenary Camp in May 2007 and
then his first Summer Camp later that summer. Here his
competitive side came to the fore when he became one of the four
strong winning Kestrel team alongside his PL Alex Mobbs, and two
other Scouts who went on to become PLs - Dan Bolton And Max Homer.
When it was decided to create a new patrol in October 2008 Robbie
successfully applied for the PLs job and created the Wolves.
During 2010 under Robbie's leadership the Wolves won 7 out of 8
months. (16/09/10) |
|
ALEX MOBBS
Left 19/09/09.
Alex, or Mobbsy to his mates, can be proud of the fact he is one
of the few Scouts to achieve a five year Troop membership badge.
He passed his Chief Scouts'
Award in February 2009. Mobbsy was a Kestrel
throughout his time with the Troop and became one of the youngest
Troop Patrol Leaders in 2007. Late in 2008 he became a
Senior Patrol Leader. He won the Lidster Trophy at
Summer Camp twice. Mobbsy is also famous for being
part of the excellent Dame Shirley Bassey
experience, and for "talking to the toilet" all night after
eating a "dodgy spring roll"! (16/10/09) |
|
DAN BOLTON
Left
19/09/09. Little Dan joined the Troop in April 2005
and immediately made the most of every Scout activity.
He attended all five Summer Camps and is famous for believing Araf
was a bloke in Wales that drove so fast they had to write "Araf
Slow" on the roads. Bless! For his first
three years with Scouts Dan was a Kestrel, but moved to set up the
Eagle patrol when he became a PL. At Summer Camp 2009
he led the Eagles to win the Lidster trophy. Dan
passed his Chief Scouts'
Award in February 2009. Dan was always happy to be
part of the entertainment, playing Simon Cowell at Festive Friday
in 2005, and as part of the excellent Dame
Shirley Bassey experience in 2008. (16/10/09) |
|
MAX HOMER
Left 19/09/09.
Max joined the Troop in November 2004, having previously been a
Beaver and Cub with the Group. He spent his first
three years as a Kestrel but then moved to the newly formed
Panther patrol. Early in 2008 Max took over as the
Panther Patrol Leader. He passed his
Chief Scouts' Award in
February 2009, and led the entertainment as the host of TV Burp
1979 at the Troop's 30th birthday
meeting in January 2009. (16/10/09) |
|
LEWIS MAHONY
Left
25/09/07. Lewis joined 1st Adderbury as a Merlin in
2002, later moved to the Tigers, then returned to the Merlins
where he stayed as their PL until he left. A classic
memorable Lewis moment was his "ice walk" when he left his hiking
boot in a frozen puddle during the 2005 Christmas Camp - not
intentionally of course. He was also the skipper of
our narrowboat when we nearly suffered an "iceberg" moment ...
LOCK!!!! As a Scout he was renowned for his love of
dolphins (he knows what we mean)! Lewis was PL at
three Summer Camps and regularly attended all Troop activities. (26/09/07) |
|
MATT PHANICHATTRA
Left 20/03/07.
Matty P joined the Troop in 2002 as a Kestrel and stayed there
until he left, eventually becoming a PL. Matt was an
excellent map reader and did nearly every Scout activity going.
A couple of the memorable ones included narrow boating holiday,
and five consecutive Summer Camps. And it was at
Summer Camp 2005 Matt made his world famous "confession" during a
game of rounders that led to him becoming Wally of the Week!
Matt left Scouts on a high, having led the Kestrels to a Warren
Trophy win for 2006. (21/03/07) |

JAMES FARRELL
Left
20/03/07. It was the end of January 2002 that Jimmy came to his first Scout meeting.
He was a bit of a late start camper, only attending his first Summer Camp in
2005. However he quickly adapted and showed the right skills
that led to him becoming Tiger patrol leader With Scouts Jimmy climbed
Snowdon twice, went jet skiing, camped in temperatures of minus 12C, went
narrowboating, caving, banana boating, and karting (amongst others) and
learned how to cook pretty mean home made Chicken Kievs!

SAM
BRADLEY
Left 22/08/06.
Like his brother Sam spent over five years as an Adderbury Scout
and was a Kestrel throughout - the final years as PL.
Sam, or "Corporal" after his "army phase" is famed for winning the
Lidster Trophy three years on the trot at Summer Camp, and is
infamous for "uses of a Panda Pop bottle" and "videos on my
phone". Sam led Adderbury's Hike Oxon team to success
in the spring of 2006. (27/08/06) |

MARK BRADLEY
Left
08/08/06. Mark
spent over five years as an Adderbury Scout and was one of the few lucky
peeps that timed his birthday so he could attend six summer camps.
His final years were spent as Tiger's PL where (as demonstrated above) he
found novel ways of delivering the food to the leaders at meal times!
We also note that Mark's hair is short in this shot, which comes from Summer
Camp 2005. Mark has just completed his GCSEs.(09/08/06) |

NICK PUTT
Left
30/06/05. In
the shot above Nick adopts his favourite Summer Camp pose -
relaxing! Nick's commitment to Adderbury Scouts was in
no way relaxing though - he juggled long private school hours with
the Troop's activities and lasted the course. Nick was
a Merlin throughout his Scout life, finishing off as PL.
Outside Scouts he was more than "popular" with the ladies, knew
where all the good parties were (including the pool party where
clothes were banned!) and always had the latest gadgets to keep
life comfortable! (09/08/05) |

JOE DAVIES
Left
30/06/05. Joe,
or Jolly to his friends (don't ask!), was a Tiger for most of his Scouting
life until he got the calling and became Kestrel's PL. Joe's unique sense of
humour led to him being the only ever person to be awarded the title "Wally of the Week"
twice - first at Summer Camp
in 2001 and again in 2003. And the question that will stay with him forever: "do
you boil peas in hot or cold water". Er ... yes.
Whether he cooked them we may never know, but he certainly ate them.
Little Joe is now six foot tall and piling on the pounds. Who
ate all the pies - Joe did! (09/08/05)

ADAM MALTBY
Left
01/09/03. Its
Womble - never really knew why Adam had that name, but there ya
go. He was a Tiger from the start, rising to the
heights of Patrol Leader, despite not being able to light matches
in the rain at Summer Camp in 2002. Strange that.
Its fair to say that Adam was one of the "less outgoing" Cubs to
join the Troop in 1998, but that certainly changed through his
teenage years: Adam was almost married by 15! By the time he
finished Scouts Adam could always be relied upon for a Del Boy
style story from the weekend, and tales of life slightly off the
beaten track. Today he run's Halfords in Banbury -
well at least that's what he tells us! (09/08/05) |

LAWRENCE
PUTT
Left 08/01/02. Lorry
joined 1st Adderbury on 8th October 1996 and remained a Tiger throughout
his time with the Troop. As a PL he led his patrol to win the
Warren Trophy for the best points performance during 2001.
Lawrence gained a Chief Scouts Award with the Troop. He
showed true commitment to 1st Adderbury by becoming the first Adderbury
Scout ever to balance the calls of a school day that finished at 9pm with
Troop activities. He also gave us a laugh or two: who could
forget his inability to send texts to the right person ... like the rather
saucy one to Gemma ...which he sent by accident to the Scout
Leader! A Lorry loved working at Fairport ...
but usually had a lie down on Saturday night!!! Well done
Lorry - can Jez have his videos back please...!. (12/01/02) |
|
LUKE GARRETT
Left 08/01/02. Kestrel PL Luke
joined the Troop as a Tiger on 15th October 1996.
Despite his outwardly grungy nu-metal appearance Luke revealed his
true musical preferences during his time in Scouts, quickly
donning the costume and learning the dance for the Village
People's YMCA at a parents evening! Meantime Luke
completed his Chief Scouts' Award and was a member
of our winning Cyril Gardner 33-mile hike team. In his
spare time he had a preference for entertaining young ladies in
his shed ... but that's another story! Waterskiing,
hiking, jet skiing, survival camp and karting - Luke did them all
with 1st Adderbury. (12/01/02) |

HOWARD
WHITE
Left 08/01/02. Howard
joined Scouts on 2nd July 1996 as an Otter, but moved to the Merlins late
1999 where he eventually became PL. Here he kept up the
patrol's tradition of taking home the Lidster trophy for winning the
points competition at Summer Camp. Howard liked trophies - he
was also part of our winning 33-mile hike Cyril Gardner team.
Rather cleverly Howard steered his way through his years with the Troop
avoiding any gossip (which would be printable here) ... mostly by
spreading stories about Tom Norton! Trips to France,
adventurous activities, survival expeditions, and hill walking all helped
Howard achieve his Chief Scouts Award with the Troop.

TOM
NORTON
Left 08/01/02. Now
where do we start! "Naughty Norton" as James DeCaux
named him, joined Scouts on 2nd July 1996. He took over
running the Otter Patrol at the start on 2001. And between
joining and leaving Tom gave the whole Troop a real laugh ... shutting Mr
Mann's foot in the minibus door... going to dubious parties and meaning
dubious people ... yes there was always a story about
Tom! Tom was an Otter throughout his time in the Troop
and attended every Summer Camp during the five years.
Tom is currently at University (04/12/07) |

OLIVER
DAVIES
Left 02/01/01. Oli
... or Olly ... or Olster ... or Action Man ... or Donger ... well
whatever we called him, Ol joined 1st Adderbury in September
1995. He gained a Chief Scouts Award,
was Senior Patrol Leader and led his Swift Patrol to victory in the battle
to gain the Warren Trophy for the year 2000. He's also famed
for a multitude of different hair styles, use of blond hair dye and
creating naked bodies from sand on a beach! Olly was a top muso
and also stripped off (sort of!) in a Full Monty Spoof!
Olly is also famed for smashing a minibus window with his
backside! (17/07/14)
