During a tense afternoon’s football, at times the strain for some of the parents showed though, with some clasping their hands in prayer like spiritual encouragement for the lads, during the crucial final games.

The competition took place at Spiceball Park Sports Centre. Ten teams from Troops across North Oxfordshire battled in a fast and furious afternoon’s football, which saw the winners of the past two year’s indoor and outdoor competitions, 1st Adderbury, taking home the trophy again.

1^st Adderbury "A" remained unbeaten all afternoon and chalked up an impressive 35 goals.

Scout Leader Andy Green said, "After all the uproar over the way Hoddle lost the plot running the England Squad, here are a group of local lads just getting on with their football and concentrating on winning.

"They organised their own training sessions in the Warriner School sports hall. That obviously paid off as 1^st Adderbury now have the trophy in our cabinet for the third year running, and for the fifth year out of the last six!"
