AUSTRIA 1990
|
The new decade started with
Brian Eeles being promoted to the position of Senior Patrol
Leader, and Adam Sharpe becoming the Kestrel PL, joining Stuart Keen (Merlins), Jeremy
Fennell (Otters), and Richard Jackson
(Tigers). After Summer Camp the pressure from people
waiting to join the Troop led to a new patrol being formed.
Tim Blackburn got the job as PL, and chose to name his new patrol
the Swifts.
Towards the end of the year
Brian, Stuart, Richard and Adam moved to the Venture Scout Unit.
Their places were taken by Matthew Whitehead (Merlins), Steven
Whitehead (Kestrels) and Robbie Easterbrook (Tigers).
1990 was the year the Troop said
goodbye to the beret and hello to its first trip abroad. |
|
The Troop's most
ambitious trip took place during the October Half Term. We
travelled to Stanzach in Austria for the week, along with Scouts from
2nd and 4th Banbury and 1st Sibfords. |

EARNING SOME CASH
In 1990 the Troop worked at the
Cropredy Music Festival for the first time. The first
few days were spent marshalling the camping fields and on the last day
it was the big clear up. The Troop worked at the festival
for around 10 years.
|
With an ever expanding
programming and more and more Scouts the Troop always took on any
opportunity to earn some extra money. Marshalling at
the Birmingham to Oxford bike ride provided one such
opportunity. |
