There was plenty of time to use the Group's new ropes.

Late in 1979 Adderbury Parish Council offered the Scouts the chance to earn extra money by doing a weekly litter pick.   Two patrols cleared litter in areas of Adderbury and Twyford every other weekend.   This scheme lasted for a number of years and was often the PLs most difficult task ... in getting their patrols to turn up!

Pony trekking was a new activity for the Troop.   For some so was having a wash in the rather cramped wash tent!

Merlins won the week's points competition. By 1980 the Troop's programme was in full swing. During the summer months Tuesday nights were spent canoeing at Twyford Wharf, shooting with the Troop's new air rifles and doing forestry work (Scouts made their own staves). During the Summer holidays Mr Lidster ran a Youth Hostelling expedition, a canoe expedition and a badgework hike. For Halloween everyone was encouraged to dress up. During the year attendance numbers reached a high of 32.
