2001 saw another three Scouts receive their Chief Scouts Awards in November.   Lawrence Putt, Luke Garrett and Howard White were the last Scouts for a while to achieve the award.

2001 was the end of an era for the Troop in a number of areas.   The last Christmas Card delivery service ran in December, and raised £319.   This was also the final year the Troop worked at the Cropredy Concert.   Away from fund raising and this was the last year the District ran a Scout football competition.   As Adderbury won the trophies (again) we got to keep them forever.

A number of activities were affected by the UK wide foot and mouth crisis.   The Troop managed to find a site for Summer Camp, much against the odds, but a few activities were cancelled (such as the Cyril Gardner Hike), never to return.

At the start of 2001 the PLs were Jon Evans (Tigers), Luke Garrett (Kestrels), Adam Source (Swifts), Craig Towle (Otters) and Howard White (Merlins).

A month into the year Jon and Craig quit at short notice.   Lawrence Putt  took over the Tigers and Tom Norton in the Otters.   Hence Lawrence, Luke, Adam, Tom and Howard was the line up of PLs for the rest of the year.   Lawrence, Luke, Tom and Howard retired from the Troop at the end of the year when they reached their leaving age.

Just before Christmas the whole Troop spent an evening Indoor Karting

The Troop beat off competition from around the country to win £200 in a national energy competition.   Scouts completed energy effeciency surveys, built models from rubbish, found out about recycling schemes and did a voluntary litter pick in the village.

For our 2001 Social Evening we put together a Scout band featuring Lawrence Putt, Adam Source, Howard White, Adam Maltby and Robert Pope with young leader Olly Davies.   You can hear the two songs they performed here.   You can also hear how Scout Seb Bowen got on selling the raffle tickets...
