1997 was the year the Spice Girls appeared at the Social Evening ... sort of, and the Troop moved into the internet age, launching its first website towards the end of the year...

The PLs through 1997 were Jeremy Lumbers (Merlins), Andy Robinson (Kestrels), Joe Blakeman (Swifts), Matt Bartlett (Otters) and Matthew Bryant (Tigers).   Matthew left the Troop in the autumn and James Pope took over his position in the Tigers.

At August's PLs Narrowboating Holiday the 70s song "Airport" by the Motors had the PLs flying away at every opportunity!

The Dark Side in September was a series of bases including navigating the village as a blind person would, and solving a murder.   These lads have discovered Venture Scout Leader Brendan Cox being murdered in Squires Hairdressers!
