Welcome to 1987 - and what had to be the comedy moment of the year, as Simon Ewles struggled to spit roast a chicken at Survival Camp.   Watch the video below.

In the spring Alan Rickard took over as Merlins PL, joining Andy Whitehead in the Tigers and Neil Belcher in the Otters.   Jon Clinkard became the Troop's second Senior Patrol Leader shortly after Summer Camp and Simon Ewles took over as Kestrel's PL.   Who can forget Simon's legendary shout: "Kestrel Kings"!

Summer Camp 1987 was held in the New Forest.

During the autumn the Troop launched a poster campaign to recruit new members: If It Aint Fun, It Aint Adderbury Scouts!   Stuart Anderson and Matthew Whitehead proudly display theirs at teh Green bus stop.

In May the Troop invited special guests to a VIP Meal -  a chance to sample Scout cooking ... on the village Green!   The Patrols all went the extra mile to make it a great evening.

Edition 4 of The Bugler from the autumn of 1987 was a bumper edition.   Have a look here at some of the things the Scouts were talking about.   Beware, its a big download.

Banbury District ran a Sponsored Walk during September and 1st Adderbury Scouts successfully completed the 20 mile route.

There were plenty of hikes in 1987.   Above are some Scouts coming in to a checkpoint on the sponsored walk, and right are two PLs and two APLs on a night exercise.

Throughout 1987 the party loving PLs ran a series of discos in that party venue known as Adderbury Institute!   The enterprising lads sold tickets to their friends at school, and raised over £100 during the year.   Amazing considering phrases like "bop til you drop" and "mega disco" were used in the advertising material!
