It was frying pans at the ready for members of the 1st Adderbury Scouts group yesterday, Tuesday, as they competed in a Pancake Pandemonium competition.

Four patrols of Scouts made pancakes in a bid to be crowned competition winners by a taste-test panel of judges from the local community.

Tasked with making pancakes in four different categories – basic, sweet, savoury and speciality – dishes served in addition to traditional sugar and lemon pancakes included spicy pork and rice, beefburger with lettuce, chicken and sausage, bacon and egg!

Among those on the judging panel was Banbury Guardian editor Jason Gibbins, who said: “We were served an amazing variety of pancakes that showed both great cooking skills and, in some cases, wonderful imagination!

“All the pancakes, however, were a delight to taste and it was an honour to be invited to join such a fun event.”

Judges: Sheila Norton, Robert Stilgoe, Diane Bratt, June Stilgoe & Jason Gibbins
